Harleston & District u3a – our monthly talk, Charlie and ‘The Dig’ on Wednesday 19 June at 2.00 pm in St John’s Church, Harleston IP20 9AZ will be given by Charlie Haylock, the renowned speaker and voice coach. Charlie will give us an insight into the making of the Netflix film ‘The Dig’, based on the novel by John Preston. about the Sutton Hoo burial ship. He’ll also explain how Ralph Fiennes and other actors learnt their Suffolk accents !

Our Summer Term began on 8 April, and we’re now on track for our Summer Concert on Saturday 29 June, at 7.30 pm in St John’s Church, Harleston IP20 9AZ. Come and join us !
We’re singing Saint–Saëns Requiem and Dvořák Mass in D Major.

Tickets £15.00 (to include a glass of wine or a soft drink, accompanied children go free) available from choir members, on the door on the night, and from Harleston Information Plus.

We’ve been singing since 2000, we’re a friendly community choir, there are no auditions, and music is provided free. Practices are on Monday evenings 7.30 pm – 9.30 pm, in The London Road Church, Harleston IP20 9BH, and parking is available in The Original Factory Shop (TOFS), almost opposite the church.

Our Summer Term ends with the concert on 29 June and we’ll be returning for more singing on Monday 2 September. Come and join us, especially if you’re a potential tenor, alto or bass.

Hardwick Road, Pulham Market will be closed for repairs at Bridge TM28106, on Monday 29 April 2024 for one day.

The work will involve removing a tree which is causing structural damage to the bridge structure. For this work a full road closure is required to maintain a safe working area for our subcontractors.

A signed diversion route will be in place for the duration of the closure with pedestrian access being maintained at all times.

The County Council thanks people for their patience while this essential bridge maintenance work is carried out.

The work which will cost £1,000 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.

Harleston & District u3a welcomes you to ourmonthly talk, Needham – A Small Village with a Big History,on Wednesday 20 March at 2.00 pm in St John’s Church, Harleston IP20 9AZ.  It will be given by local historian Steve Poulter.  Steve will reveal highlights from the long history of this tiny Waveney village which feature in his newly-published book.  Signed copies will be available to buy after his talk.  Visitors welcome, admission £3.00 including refreshments.

Our brilliant annual Quiz evening is on Friday 15 March in South Elmham St James Village Hall IP19 0HP (ample parking, and level access to the village hall).  6.45 pm for a 7.00 pm start.  All welcome, tickets on the door – cash only please – £10.00 pp, which includes a delicious two-course supper.  Bring your own drinks).  Groups of six for the quiz but we can make up teams on the night.
