Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is the payment made by developers when building works over a certain size are approved within the parish. The money is collected by the district council and passed onto the parish to fund local infrastructure or facilities that support residents and visitors.
Parish councils must submit an annual CIL report detailing total receipts and expenditure, with a summary of items CIL was spent on, the amount on each item, any CIL repaid, and the balance retained from the current and previous years. This report must be published on the parish council’s website by December 31st following the end of the financial year.
